The Wailing Wall and the Al Aqsa Mosque are next to each other. Jerusalem dates back 5000 years. Throughout history Babylonians, Greeks, Romans and Christian Crusaders have ruled the city. Until the state of Israel was created, it had been under Muslim rule since the 8th century with the exception of the 12th century hiatus under the Crusaders.
